Titusville Where Space Meets NatureThe beautiful waterfront community of Titusville, Florida is a popular Florida resort.  The city of Titusville, FL describes the itself as "A city with no limits, rich in tradition, peaceful lifestyles and great opportunities."

Titusville, Florida is the oldest community on the Indian River, founded in 1867 and incorporated in 1887.  Titusville is also the County Seat for Brevard County. The city is just  five miles west of the Kennedy Space Center, across the Indian River.  Called "Space City, USA,", Titusville is host to the worlds premier location for technological advancement at the Kennedy Space Center.  Space truly meets nature in Titusville, FL with the Space Center co-existing with the pristine beaches and natural habitat at the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge and the Canaveral National Seashore.

Titusville is in the north section of Brevard County just miles from Port Canaveral, FL, Daytona Beach, FL and Cocoa Beach, FL.  Titusville, FL is 40 miles west of Orlando and can be reached via several different routes.  It is directly off of Interstate 95 at exit 79 and 80. Other  routes are U.S. Highway 1 or Highway 50 and State Roads 528 or 408.

Titusville, Florida can also be reached by Greyhound Bus Lines and by air.  There are three international airports serving Titusville in nearby Melbourne, FL, Orlando, FL and Daytona Beach, FL.  The Space Coast Regional Airport and the Arthur Dunn Airpark are regional airports that also service the Titusville area.

The public transportation system for Titusville is provided by the Space Coast Area Transit System.

The city's schools consistently rank in the top academic scores in national testing. 

Higher education is provided by Brevard Community College - Titusville Campus and the nearby University of Central Florida - Cocoa Campus.  There are several other higher learning institutions located within a 50 mile radius of the city.

Historical Titusville

Historic downtown along the scenic Indian River shoreline offers a small town atmosphere amid a variety of specialty shops from arts and crafts to consignment stores.  After relaxing and enjoying a good meal at one of the popular eateries mosey on over to one of the nearby antique stores, art galleries or for the true shopping enthusiast you can 'shop til you drop' at the Miracle City Mall or the Sears Town Mall.
 
History buffs can visit the museums or take a historic self-guided walking tour along public walkways where the history of Titusville is revealed on descriptive panels or take a historic space walk along the Space Walk of Fame and Museum.  There is even an archaeological site to be explored.

The city is also home to three championship golf courses, 2 resorts and a public course.  You can go skydiving at the Dunn Airpark or experience the wonders of nature while horseback riding, camping or taking an eco-tour.  Titusville also has several animal exhibits where you can view gators, flamingos, monkey and many other types of wildlife.

Titusville, FL offers over 200 acres of park land there are neighborhood parks, community parks and regional parks featuring picnic areas, bike paths, nature paths, boat ramps, playgrounds, tennis and racquetball courts and much more!  Two parks of special interest are the Sandpoint Park with the Challenger Memorial and Space View Park with a Veteran's Memorial commemorating each war in which the United States has participated.

Most days of the year Titusville, Florida is a quaint quiet town even during tourist season but this changes dramatically when a launch is scheduled.  a launch is a home town event since so many of the residents work at the Kennedy Space Center as well as a tourist attraction.  One of the best sites in town to view a launch is Veteran's Park but there are many other sites as well.
