Cocoa Beach Community Information
Located on a barrier island between the Atlantic Ocean and the Banana Lagoon on Floridas Central Coast is the small beach community of Cocoa Beach. Just 6 miles long and mostly less than a mile wide, this little strip of land is a unique blend of residential, retirement, tourists, and retail in a tropical setting.
The primary attraction of Cocoa Beach is the weather and they have plenty of things to do outdoors. Enjoy a day at the beach watching the dolphins or just relaxing and reading a book. How about having lunch at an outdoor cafe. Cocoa Beach offers all types of cuisine from casual to fine dining.
The Parks and Recreation Department has a wide variety of programs and activities all year round for people of all ages. Play a round of golf at the 27 hole golf course at the Cocoa Beach Recreation Complex. This complex is a 212 acre park with not only golf but tennis courts, an olympic size pool, and team sports like baseball, softball, and soccer. There are also several beach and community parks. Known as the surfing capital of the east coast, surfing is only one of the great water activities. You can surf cast from the beach for your dinner, pier fish, or go out for a day of deep sea fishing. How about taking a tour on a boat or kayak on the Indian River Lagoon where you can see marine and wildlife in their natural habitat in the most biologically diverse estuary in the U.S. For bird watchers, there is a wide variety of coastal and migratory birds that use this area for nesting and raising their young.
The city of Cocoa Beach has excellent hotel and motel accommodations. With a beach trolley to get around town, be sure to stop by the Historic Cocoa Village to shop in the boutiques or browse the art galleries and museums like the Astronaut Hall of Fame. And for night life, Cocoa Beach has a variety from beach side cafes to cool jazz clubs to the King Center for Performing Arts with shows ranging from Broadway to world wide entertainers.
